Editorial Projects in Education Salesforce, FinancialForce, DoubleClick DFP

Editorial Projects in Education is the independent, nonprofit publisher of Education Week and other high-quality print and online products on K-12 education. EPE's mission is to raise awareness and understanding of critical issues facing American schools. In July 2011, we began work on the assessment phase of the project, analyzing the current workflow between various, disparate systems (Salesforce, FinancialForce, DoubleClick, SearchEase, Microsoft Dynamics, BlueHornet), and various offline processes. The results of our efforts were huge efficiency gains in terms of integrating processes and eliminating redundant tasks.

Time Inc iPad, iPhone, and Android Apps

Time Inc is the largest magazine publisher in the United States. Each month, one out of two Americans reads a Time Inc magazine and more than one out of five visits a Time Inc website. In July 2010, we were hired to manage the design and development of the Real Simple mobile applications for iPad, iPhone, and Android; the Cooking Light application for iPad and iPhone; and the MyRecipes application for iPad. The project required extensive collaboration across internal departments and external vendors, including sales, legal, design, development, QA, marketing, ad ops, and analytics.

Procter & Gamble is a global company that provides consumer products in the areas of pharmaceuticals, cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet supplies. P&G brands serve about 4.2 billion of the 6.5 billion people on the planet today. Parents can track multiple children from birth to 4 years of age. The app is currently under development and will launch in Spring 2012.

Canyons Ski Resort Site Relaunch

Canyons Ski Resort is the largest all-inclusive skiing and snowboarding resort in North America. In August 2010, we were hired to design a best-of-breed winter resort site. The project included a complete overhaul of the existing information architecture, a new unified e-commerce platform, an all-in-one trip planner, rich interactive trail map generator, geo-targeting, and SEO strategy. The key philosophy of the re-branding effort was “amazing simplicity”; the new information architecture and feature set promises to deliver exactly that. The new site is scheduled to launch Opening Day 2011.

McGraw-Hill Publishing Web Apps

McGraw-Hill Publishing is one of the largest providers of student textbooks and teaching materials in the world. In February 2009, we began work to define the information architecture and create a full deck of detailed wireframes for a new Flex-based application that would allow professors to select from various textbooks and anthologies for high-quality custom course readers. We also worked on the design of highly interactive homework and quiz software for anatomy and physiology students, making great use of layered effects and transitions inherent to the medium. Who said homework can’t be fun?

Everyday Health Salesforce, DoubleClick DSM and DFP

Everyday Health (formerly known as Waterfront Media) is a leading provider of online consumer health information, attracting an average of 25 million unique visitors per month. In 2008, DoubleClick released a new integration module for Salesforce and DART Sales Manager to share ad sales data and to manage inventory at a granular level. We were hired to do a complete analysis and cleanup of their various workflow and processes. We needed to start by cleaning up all sales data before importing into Salesforce; configure and customize Salesforce and DART Sales Manager (DSM) to fit their specific business needs; integrate Salesforce with DSM; ensure accurate data flow and trafficking in DART for Publishers (DFP); and create comprehensive automated sales pipeline reporting and forecasting for the sales team, executive management, and board reviews.

NYU Polytechnic Site Relaunch

NYU acquired Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 2008, allowing NYU to extend its offering to include a robust engineering and sciences program. We were tasked with doing a complete overhaul of their existing website to incorporate the new brand and bring the Poly site up to par with the NYU sites. This was an incredibly large and politically-charged undertaking from an information architecture perspective. We facilitated JAD sessions with the deans of each school and heads of various organizations within the school to arrive at a new architecture and site design. The new site was implemented using Drupal.
